Australian Universities Among the Best in the World

One of the many benefits of immigration to Australia is having access to some of the best universities found anywhere around the globe. While the Australian education system is generally well-respected at all levels (e.g., primary school, secondary school, vocational school, university, etc.), many of its institutions of higher education are held in particularly high esteem.

 

For example, Times Higher Education considered the University of Melbourne to be the 28th top university in the world in its 2012-2013 World University Ranking; placed Australian National University in the 27th top position; ranked the University of Sydney in 62nd place; considered the University of Queensland as the 65th top university on Earth; evaluated the University of New South Wales as being the world’s #85 best institution of higher education; and put Monash University in 99th place.

 

In the 2012 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), conducted by the respected Center for World Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Melbourne was again considered among the top 100 universities in the world, ranked in 57th place; Australian National University was #64; the University of Queensland was #90; the University of Sydney #93; and the University of Western Australia tied with Japan’s Nagoya University for 96th place.

 

Finally, in the 2012 US News and World Report evaluation of the World’s Best Universities, Australian National University was ranked as the 24th best institution of higher education on the globe; the University of Melbourne was #36; University of Sydney #39;  University of Queensland #46; University of New South Wales #52; Monash University #61; and the University of Western Australia was considered the #79 top university in the world.

 

Although these three highly-regarded assessments gave Australian universities different rankings, they all agreed that Australia has several of the world’s top 100 best universities. Since receiving an excellent education is an important factor associated with obtaining a good paying job and enjoying a high standard of living, people approved for immigration to Australia have the potential to get a world-class education and enjoy all the benefits that come with it.
